Transcript:
As Chris told us on Sunday, the religious leaders aren’t just plotting IF they’ll kill Jesus anymore—now it’s WHEN.
Passover is approaching fast. And while tension builds in Jerusalem, Jesus and his disciples are in Bethany, celebrating the miracle of Lazarus’ resurrection.
Across the region, families are preparing for one of their 3 most Holy festivals, Passover—they’re cleansing their homes of leaven, which represents sin. They’re performing ceremonial washings, purifying themselves. And they’ve already brought in the Passover lamb, the one they will soon sacrifice—its blood to be smeared on their doorposts.
In this moment, Lazarus and his sisters host a Sabbath meal to honor Jesus. It’s Friday night. The sun sets, the stars begin to appear, and all the hard work of preparation pauses.
As Jesus speaks the blessings passed down for generations, Mary suddenly drops to her knees.
She’s weeping.
She takes costly oil and anoints the feet of Jesus—the Lamb of God.
The Lamb, brought in to live among them, now anointed for burial.
She wipes his feet with her hair.
The house is filled with the fragrance of worship.
And the road to the cross begins.
